Abstract:
Arts and crafts serve as an essential carrier of China's outstanding traditional culture and an indispensable component and resource in art and design education. However, the vast variety and scattered resources of Chinese arts and crafts make it challenging to present them systematically and utilize them effectively in teaching. As a specific application and important component of artificial intelligence technology, knowledge graphs possess characteristics and advantages such as being visualized, systematic, and interconnected. Through clear nodes and relational links, knowledge graphs help shift teaching from the traditional model of "knowledge indoctrination" to a deeper form of "cognitive construction". Creating a knowledge graph of arts and crafts and integrating it into art and design education may address issues such as fragmented knowledge chains, superficial understanding, isolated content, loosely connected resources, and the disconnect between theoretical and practical instruction. Furthermore, the arts and crafts knowledge graph can contribute to disseminating China's outstanding traditional craft culture and stimulating students' innovative capabilities.
